Our Coaches

We pride ourselves in having qualified and experienced coaches to bring the best out of your riding experience. We are coaches because of our passion we have for the sport itself. There is no other feeling quite like helping riders further develop their riding skills and discipline with a foundation of respect for others. All our coaches have their First Aid certificate.

Jo-Jo is the founder of ‘Jo-Jo’s Riding Centre’ as well as the head coach (BHAI, SANAIC). She also has her provincial colours for eventing. Jo-Jo has competed successfully in Eventing, Dressage, Show Jumping and Showing.

Claire Wager is our specialized Dressage Coach.

Bianca Nardi (Eqasa Module 3) the riders enjoy lessons with Bianca as she is an enthusiastic, compassionate Instructor.

Bianca has been doing some excellent work at Jo-Jo’s Riding Centre. In her three years here, she has demonstrated a remarkable ability to connect with riders of all ages, including her youngest student who is just three years old.

We have found our specialized pad to be particularly beneficial for our young beginners, helping them to find their balance and develop an understanding of the horse’s rhythm. It has been a pleasure to observe Bianca effectively incorporating this tool into her lessons.

The commitment Bianca brings to her role is clearly reflected in the progress of her students. It’s wonderful to see several of the young riders she has mentored now beginning to participate in competitions, which speaks volumes about her coaching abilities.

The riders often tell us how much they appreciate their diverse and stimulating lessons with Bianca. Her teaching encompasses a wide array of equestrian activities, such as vaulting, polo x, dressage, show jumping, equitation, and hacks, ensuring that each session offers a fresh and valuable learning opportunity.

Facilities

Jo-Jo’s Riding Centre can accommodate 16 horses, we have a large sand show jumping arena, a round sand ring for beginners.

Our horses are turned out into huge grassy paddocks during the day.

Our Grooms

Our grooms – Derek, Xolani, Vusi and William, share a passion for horses and at the same time maintain a high standard of horse care.

The ponies and horses are always immaculately turned out and your groom will be waiting with your horse to help you aboard!

Our head groom is Xolani Lumbe (Eqasa Module 2).

Xolani takes the littlies and has a great rapport with the children he teaches, the youngest rider being 3 years old who is cantering.

In 2018 at the Shongweni Club Showing Championships Xolani won the Victor Ludorum riding Tigger. (Lansig Induna). Xolani came 2nd in 2018 for top Showing Groom Handler in SA for the year.Xolani was chosen for the Solidarity Team in 2022 sponsored by FEI, 2025 will be his 3rd year riding with the Solidarity Team. Claire Wagner is Xolani’s Dressage Coach.
